The Unity greeter will give you problems because of the lack of the Unity manager in LL. If you are pressed for disk space or RAM, or CPU I would not try the KDE greeter as the dependencies to add would be considerable. You can certainly compile your own greeter if you have that skill. It all depends on your level of expertise. There are caveats with whatever you choose to do and LL is a highly customized XFCE DE. Other options are not going to give you much leeway for customization. In order to freely customize lightdm use the lightdm web-kit greeter. Best to work within the greeter we have in LL.

I do not recommend any solutions, that involve changing greeters, except the web-kit solution, nor do I recommend adding greeter managers.
